Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 2:3–5)
Remember when Luke mentioned a few weeks back, “The entire COVID-19 situation has been fluid and changing. Thus, it’s important to communicate that these are our plans for now…”
Well, no doubt you’ve heard about the recent executive order again prohibiting gatherings of 50 people or more.
While the executive order doesn’t apply to churches, Redemption leadership has decided to transition back to online only services for the month of July, in an effort to continue protecting the vulnerable and honoring the spirit of our Governor’s leadership.
For the 1,000+ of you who have been worshipping with us online, this doesn’t change much. But for those of you who have been joining us in person, we understand how this is probably saddening and frustrating.
While the situation surrounding COVID-19 is generally improving nationally, in Arizona the situation is not getting better. Hospitals are approaching their max capacities (many hospitals have already begun turning people away) and have already activated their surge plans. In light of that, Governor Ducey has issued his new executive orders pausing Arizona’s reopening, pushing back the start of schools, and prohibiting large gatherings.
The reason we initially suspended in person gatherings in March was to protect hospital capacity; we have reached the point where we, again, want to do our part to protect hospital capacity and in doing so love our neighbors. As this pandemic continues to unfold, please do your part to protect yourselves and others.
Thank you for all your encouragement, understanding, support, and prayers as we continue to navigate through an ever changing season. We are praying that this is the plan for now and we will communicate any changes as they happen.
We love you Gateway, and look forward to seeing everyone, in person, soon!
