Important Coronavirus Update for Sunday, March 15

March 13, 2020  |  Luke Simmons

In consideration of the public health concerns related to COVID-19, we will not be hosting worship services at Gateway on Sunday, March 15. The dynamics related to the coronavirus are changing quickly, and we anticipate having greater clarity on next week. (None of our Phoenix and Tucson area congregations are meeting this week)

This Sunday

Instead, we invite you to join us for an online worship experience at 9:00am, 10:45am, or 5:00pm. This will take place via livestream through our YouTube channel.

If someone asks why your church chose to respond to this health crisis by closing its doors, here’s our response:

1. We are loving our neighbors by protecting our neighbors.
2. We are not being fearful. We are being responsible.
3. Love requires that we look out for the most vulnerable among us.

Though we are being cautious, we are not afraid. We believe that God will use us to shine the light of Jesus as we respond with faith and love in the midst of a climate of uncertainty and fear.

This Week’s Church Events

Since the prevailing wisdom is to avoid large gatherings, we will not be having Men, Women, or Student Ministry events on campus this week (March 12-20).

Other smaller scheduled classes will continue, though we encourage that anyone sick or concerned stay home.

Need Help?

Finally, some of you are in a position where you need help during this time. Perhaps you’re in a more vulnerable age or health situation and you need assistance with groceries or other things. We have a Care Ministry ready to help. To request help, please fill out this simple form.
