We’re Pregnant with a Baby Church!
(A Note from Luke Simmons)
After many years of praying and hoping, God has opened the door for Gateway to give birth to a new congregation: Redemption North Mountain.
I couldn’t be more excited for this new work. I love Josh and Aubrey Watt, and am thrilled to see a number of wonderful people move to North Phoenix to help start this congregation.
New churches often reach new people and we’re already praying for those who will meet Jesus through this ministry.
To help this church launch with strength and purchase what’s needed, I’m asking you to prayerfully consider giving a one-time, over-and-above financial gift on Sunday, September 13.
And, whether you can give or not, please also join me in praying for God’s glory to shine forth
Let’s give generously, pray faithfully, and share about this church with anyone we know in North Phoenix who we’d like to see know Jesus!
Because the Tomb is Empty,
How You Can Help
Pray for Josh and his family as they transition, and pray that God will continue to open doors for a new gospel work in North Phoenix. Pray for the launch team joining Josh in this new work.
Prepare to Give
Join us for a “Baby Shower” for North Mountain on Sunday, September 13. Begin preparing for financially supporting this new work. This offering will help with supplies and initial ministry needs. Download and print a list (see below) for the estimated start up costs for North Mountain.
If you are interested in getting more information or have questions, please email Josh Watt.
About Redemption North Mountain
(A Note from Josh Watt)
I didn’t plan on being a church planter or a pastor. I liked being a math teacher (which I did for 7 years). I liked teaching math, but it let me do with I love: connect with my students. I was in a great spot.
Then one day in a Sunday school class at our church in Texas, one of mentors of the class, Julia asked me, “Have you ever thought about teaching the Bible? I think you should…”
That was it. I loved teaching and I loved my students, but something stirred inside of me from that conversation. Shortly thereafter Aubrey and I and our firstborn moved back to AZ to be a part of a new church plant called Second Mile (now Redemption Gateway).
I got a job teaching math here at Tempe High School while I volunteered and developed as a leader and as an aspiring pastor at Redemption Gateway. I came on staff full time three years after moving back to AZ.
I have loved my job at Gateway for the last 7 years. I get to do everything I’ve ever wanted: teach the Bible, cultivate a Gospel-saturated culture, and connect with and empower Christians to follow Jesus in their everyday lives.
Recently through a series of conversations, prayer, fasting, and a few crazy ‘coincidences’, I have heard God ask me almost the same question, Julia asked me.
“Have you ever thought about planting a church? I think you should..”
So that’s what we are doing.
We love Jesus.
We love the local church.
We love Redemption church.
We love a good adventure.
We can’t wait to see what God does through this new Redemption congregation.
