The 2017 Christmas Offering

November 27, 2017  |  Luke Simmons

The Christmas Offering has become an important annual tradition at Redemption Gateway. Each year the elders select a number of causes and our congregation generously gives over-and-above to support these initiatives.

Close — Near — Far

We’ve adopted a pattern (most years) that gives toward things that are close, near, and far.

It’s based on Acts 1:8, where Jesus said we’d be his witnesses:

in Jerusalem (close)
and in all Judea and Samaria (near)
and to the ends of the earth (far)

Part of the 2017 Christmas Offering will be used to fill our Benevolence fund. This fund allows us to bless people in our church and community who face financial hardships and need assistance.

Another portion of the offering will support Redemption Alhambra’s Storyboard Learning Center. This is a space that partners with community organizations that help with tutoring, technology, starting businesses, vocational training, parent classes, music lessons, dance classes, after school programs, and more.

Our gift will help R/Alhambra get close to finishing the center. Watch this video.

The final portion of our offering will support a new Juarez Activity Center with our partners from Missions Ministries. We send short-term teams to Juarez, Mexico twice per year and our partners there are looking to expand their facilities with a new Activity Center that will allow for community events, adult learning, and more.

Here’s a recap video of our most recent trip:
