Christine Reinke has been an all-church admin at Gateway for a while now, but some of you may not know her. So, here’s a brief opportunity to learn more about Christine:
Where are you from?
I am from Clayton, California…a very small town about 40 miles east of San Francisco.
What brought you to Arizona?
My husband majored in criminal justice in college, with the hopes of becoming a police officer. California cities weren’t hiring a ton of officers but every city in Arizona was hiring about 20 a month, so we moved here with the hopes of him getting a job.
Tell us about your family.
I have been married to Chris since September 1998. He is set to retire from the PD in about 3 1/2 years, so he is currently attending ASU for a secondary degree in mechanical engineering.
We have three boys.
Wyatt (17), our oldest, is a senior at BASIS Mesa. He has been accepted at NAU and is planning to attend there in the fall of 2017. He is our very responsible kid, and a hard worker. He can be very serious and thoughtful, but he definitely has a fun side too. My husband and I both really enjoy spending time with him, and look forward to our relationship transitioning from parents to friends. He works as a math tutor at Mathnasium and is involved in track. He’s quite the long jumper!
Gavin (14), our middle, is an 8th grader at Discover 1:20. He is very creative and loves being around people. He is the one in the family that always makes us laugh with his witty remarks. He is also our affectionate one and loves to give hugs. He plays the violin and is hoping to get more involved in the R/Students band.
Luke (10), our youngest, is a 5th grader at BASIS Mesa. He is quite smart and quick thinking. He also loves to be the life of the party. He is our family clown, and loves to make videos of himself! He is definitely a mix of his brothers in his abilities. He has played several sports, but he is also quite creative.
We also have a dog, George. He is a Chihuahua, Jack Russell mix and he brings lots of happiness to our home!
What do you like to do for fun?
I really enjoy watching movies and just being home with my family. I also enjoy running and the occasional hike.
What is your favorite part of your work at the church?
My favorite part of working for the church is the relationships I have with the staff and with the teams I work with. I really enjoy getting to know people and a lot of my job is relational.
What are the best books you’ve read in the last year?
The last book I read was Persuasion, by Jane Austen. I reread all of her books every year or so.
What excites you about the future of Gateway?
I am really excited about our new building and seeing how our new home will bring more people to Jesus. The growth that Gateway has experienced over the last couple of years has been amazing. It has been awesome to see lives changed and prayers answered and I can only imagine even greater things for our future!
