Elementary: 1st-5th Grade
In our elementary classrooms, our goal is to utilize exciting teaching and consistent relationships to make God increasingly more real to elementary-aged children.
In our elementary classrooms, our goal is to utilize exciting teaching and consistent relationships to make God increasingly more real to elementary-aged children.
Our 1st – 5th grade classes use a curriculum called The Gospel Project for Kids. This curriculum take kids chronologically through the Bible, connecting the dots to reveal the overarching narrative of Scripture while showing how every story in the Bible points to Jesus.
Our elementary classes start off with games and activities that introduce the theme for each week’s lesson, they transition to a large group that includes exciting praise and worship and the Bible lesson. After large group, each age group returns to to its classroom for a Bible story review and small group activities that reinforce the main point in tangible and practical ways. We also have a memory verse program that encourages and helps kids to learn the story of the Bible in 16 verses.
Basic snacks and water are served weekly, usually consisting of Goldfish, Nilla Wafers, or Cheez-its. We have a gluten-free option in each classroom as well. If your child has an allergy, or if you prefer your child not be served a snack, please communicate that with the teacher when dropping off the child.
We request that parents take their children to restroom before dropping them off in class. However, if children need to go during the service, 1st-3rd graders go to the restroom in same-gender pairs, accompanied by an adult volunteer. 3rd graders and up may go the restroom in same-gender pairs on their own. (We have consistent adult supervision in the hallways.)
Elementary students promote to the next grade in early June, and we begin communicating the exact dates in May. Students promoting out of our 5th grade class are encouraged to transition to our student ministry, which meets on Wednesday nights. Click here for more information on Redemption Students.
